Short Review : My Hero Academia : Heroes Rising

"Goodbye... One for All, Thank You." - Izuku Midoriya

It's the second movie for MHA franchise. The events of this movie took place after the Meta Liberation Army arc, since this is like a spin-off movie, the writers try to tie its ends back to the timeline of main story. Story wise, its a typical shounen anime movie, fights are more important. Class 1-A has been sent to Nabu Island for a safety program, during this period Deku met a kid name Katsuma, meanwhile a new villain named Nine is born, he was engineered to have the ability to steal a total of 9 quirks.

In order to nerf Nine, the writers decided to de-buff him by making his body not being able to handle all the stolen quirks without suffering damage. Given that, Nine and his gang then attacks Katsuma's father, who possesses a healing quirk. But due to blood type incompatibility issues, Nine decided to pursue Katsuma, as quirks types are inheritable. Our young heroes attempted to stop the villains' attacks, but given no pro heroes around, Class 1-A is at a disadvantage. However, both parties suffered damage, resulting in retreats. Class 1-A regrouped and planned their strategy for the next day.

We get to see probably all the students' quirk and how they push themselves to the limits in order to stop Nine and his gang, which is pretty amazing how the writers managed to stuff so many of them in one movie. What is a let down though, is that Todoroki was nerfed so hard that he became a side character, and he's like forgotten to use both of his quirk (to not overheat/freeze himself) or something. For Bakugou, we get to see the better side of his personality, there's a scene of Deku confronting Katsuma who came to apologize and Bakugo just leaning against the balcony, quietly overhears it.

So the art and animation, it is MHA though, hence meaning big budget production, I had high expectations for the animations and it turns out not a let down at any point, plus the choreography of the final fight is simply epic. The final fight gave off a vibe of Naruto & Sasuke fighting Momoshiki, making MHA commonly known as "Green Naruto" live up to its name. Music on the other hand is a tiny bit let down, if a more powerful and upbeat music is played during the between Nine and Bakugou & Deku final fight then its perfect, but the director instead chose a more slow, sad and emotional music.

Conclusion : (8.9/Good)

Overall a hyped watch, the ending may be nit picked by some people as it is ends quite roughly, but that is for the sake of tying back to the main plot.
