Review : Tada Never Falls in Love

"If you're regretting not being able to honestly share your feelings, You should just try not to repeat the same mistake." - Tada Mitsuyoshi

Story : (2.5/5)

Rom-com, you can't expect too much of a writing in this genre. Currently, I've watched two anime about photography club (with the first being Irozuku), both story executed okay-ish. This anime seemed to have a "one episode, one joke" kind of style (if I'm counting correctly), the joke is good, but mostly is brought by Ijuin & Pin, the 'Com' part is passed for my taste of humor.

As for the 'Rom' part, when I know about Teresa's true identity, I've expected a sad ending. Therefore, for me, until last episode's 19:16 (which is before the ending song) is the ending. But for those who desires a good ending, watch until the ED finishes. All in all, everyone gets what they want.

I don't get the naming of this anime, because I don't really see the point of "never falls" as oppose of "actually falls" as I didn't see any examples of it (was hoping for some rejection scenes throughout the story), but Tada did said that he shuts people out (I also don't really see this) and not falling in love during the last couple episodes.

Character: (2.5/5)

In all honesty, the characters are bland. As in Nisekoi, this anime have a... main girl who her identity is special, an OP bodyguard, a spec gag character & a spec girl. They are all like-able but just not interesting. Except Ijuin, for his backstory as a great friend to Tada also his personality as a narcissistic character is a plus for me, again, gave marks for Ijuin.

The development on the other hand... Ships of Pin×Hinako & Ijuin×Alec were not developed plus the latter technically sank, kinda disappointed. Yamashita×Yui sorta have something going on, I liked their ship for it is half (yes, half) unrequited (in the anime at least).

Now for the fun shoujo part,

Tada×Teresa is logical for they have a reason to like each other, the fact that they had similar past and also a similar way of thinking (to move on from their past respectively).

Charles×Teresa is lovely, for Charles is like too nice to be hurt. Yet the ending disappointed me, due to the fact that I think the engagement is like the cold strong "reality" but the writer somehow manage to break "reality" with the ending. To be fair, this is a rom-com anime, which usually results in a happy ending for the main pair, but I just can't bear the "nice guy" not being with who he like.

Charles×Alec is fulfilling, as its always harsh to see the one you like likes another one (I feel you, Alec) and seeing now they might have a chance is always good.

Music: (3/5)

The opening song is lively, loved the melody, never once skipped this song, credits for that.

The ending is average in comparison, though. The OST is average, I feel like the production studio did not invest a lot in the music part, except for the great opening of course.

Art/Animation: (2/5)

Art is not my taste, I'd be straight. Solid colors is just not my thing. For the character art, I liked how Tada and Yui looked, the others are okay I guess. As for the background artwork, nine out of ten times is amazing. Do note that there are occasionally some still panels that filled with great art.

Animation is quite simple (although some scenes e.g. Ijuin gets hit had some good animations), it could be done better. But given the genre (where most don't really have great animation), you can only do so much, so I get it.

Conclusion: (8.5/Average)

This is your normal rom-com anime. More to the comedy side in my opinion.

Watchable if you got nothing to watch in this genre, not a must-watch but a fun watch.
