Review : Kaguya-sama : Love is War 2

"Can I be... selfish? I'll never ask you for anything again! "- Kaguya Shinomiya

Story: (4/5)

Given the quality of writing of last season's Kaguya-sama, I expected a lot of humorous jokes and boy this show is just good. The jokes are on point and hilarious! However, this season's Kaguya-sama have less brain time but its not a big problem. Another thing I need to point out is that, this season's overall story style is very similar to the last season, by that I mean there are some scenes that uses last season as reference. Speaking of references, this time the writers used a lot of references from other animes, for example:

Monogatari Series reference when Shirogane and Chika is discussing on the one that is going to speech for Student Council President election.
Shokugeki reference on the new character Miko IIno was writing the kanji "人 " on her hand before the election speech, and also that episode's overall vibe is similar to shokugeki.
Koe no Katachi reference on Ishigami's backstory of how he views the world when his trauma reignited.

Characters: (5/5)

Highly lovable characters, you just don't have any reasons to hate on the student council committee. Plus, all of the student council committee are very much meme-able! We got to see more Hayasaka scenes in this season, she being a freaking ninja for Kaguya's sake is very funny. Kei also being written as a pretty realistic sister in my opinion, anime usually makes little sister overly nice to their brother but Kei is one of the exceptions. We were introduced to Miko, a serious to a fault character but she's cute enough to be not hated, her back story is surprisingly good, some sympathy emotions were drawn out.

Last season's second last episode or so we looked into Kaguya's sad past and this time it's Ishigami's turn. Already a perfect character in my eyes (being extremely straight to the point, comedic, sarcastic, kind and a genuinely well constructed otaku character) gets introduced to his tragic past. In short, to protect the smile of the girl he likes, he suffered lots, even so this results in no positive returns as the girl still unaware of the truth. What infuriates me is that Ishigami didn't win the relay race. To be fair it's same as Kaguya, she didn't got the chance to see the (first) fireworks with the gang (last season). Although furious, it's actually better this way, Kaguya-sama style of writing tends to break cliches, applaudable.

Music: (4.5/5)

What can I say? DADDY! DADDY! DO!
Both the OP and ED are very good songs, the themes are very much similar in both seasons, and both season executed it marvelously, especially the opening theme, totally unskippable!

As for the OSTs they share the same one, particularly loved the "Confession" "Indirect Ki......""Another Thing" "That Kind Of Summer", the others are very good too!

Art/Animation: (4/5)

Honestly, I'm nit picking here, can't really find things to deduct marks. The animation and art style are solid, but not mind blowing, and when compared to last season's its more or less the same.

Conclusion : (9.6/Very Good)

Like Season 1, Season 2 is an absolute entertaining anime, highly recommended for newcomers to anime!
